There are many myths about what causes spots such as chocolate, stress, PMT and many more. There are case studies that say these things cause spots and others that say they don’t, however, no matter what the cause may be the worst thing is – we still all get them – however, here are some ways to prevent them.
Firstly you should always clean your face thoroughly, the removal of makeup is essential so that your pores do not become blocked. It is worthwhile to invest in a good face wash, that will remove any traces of dirt and bacteria build up that can cause those nasty red pimples. There are many face washes on the market but you need to choose one to suit your skin type – if you have sensitive skin then do not get a strong and aggressive wash.
Secondly, by splashing your face with cold water once a day you can prevent you spots appearing, this is because, the cold water helps keep your pores closed as it causes them to contract.
You can also try not wearing makeup for a few days a week, if your just in the house, don’t bother putting it on – makeup is the cause of many spots. If you get a spot, don’t smother it in concealer to hide it, this can cause more damage than good.
Finally, do not squeeze spots – this can cause permanent scarring when done on the sensitive skin of the face.
